Women in Art @ Women for Expo

Women in Art is part of a broader research project by the ASK Centre, the Observatory for Contemporary Art, a study on the legitimization processes of artists in the contemporary art system. The research Women in Art traces an overview of the female presence in the system, considering as a sample the relevant art fair of Art Basel and as a time span the period 2005-2013. The study prepares the ground for a qualitative work able to highlight artists’ voices and works and to evaluate the mechanisms for their legitimization and consecration within the system.

From October 8th to 13th 2015, an exhibition space dedicated to the winners of the call "Progetti per le donne", within the Italian Pavilion, will display the researche through texts, images, videos.

Women in Art è parte di un più ampio progetto di ricerca del centro ASK, l’Osservatorio Arte Contemporanea, che studia i processi di legittimazione degli artisti nel sistema dell’arte contemporanea. La ricerca Women in Art traccia una panoramica della presenza femminile all’interno del sistema, avendo come campione l’importante fiera d’arte Art Basel e come riferimento temporale il periodo 2005-2013. Lo studio pone le basi per un lavoro di natura qualitativa che metta in luce le esperienze e le parole delle artiste e che valuti i meccanismi della loro legittimazione  e consacrazione.

Dall'8 al 13 ottobre 2015, uno spazio espositivo dedicato ai vincitori del bando "Progetti per le donne", all'interno del Padiglione Italia, racconterà la ricerca attraverso testi, immagini, video.
