Leonardo Chiariglione


Leonardo Chiariglione (http://www.chiariglione.org/) is a prominent Italian engeneer, who has developed several innovating projects in the field of the digital media technology. He his the "father" ot the MPEG standard. He received several awards such as the IBC John Tucker Award (1999), the IEEE Masaru Ibuka Consumer Electronics Award (1999), and Kilby Foundation Award (1998). In 1999 Time Digital ranked him among the top 50 innovators in the digital world. He is currently CEO of Cedeo.net, a consulting company operating in the area of innovative use of digital media.

 

In this seminar, Leonardo Chiariglione presents a proposal designed to maximise the flow of digital media in Italy. The proposal is the first issue of an interdiscipliary research project launched in 2003 and called Digital Media in Italia.
