Public Consultation on the review of the EU copyright rules
ASK - Art, Science & Knowledge Research Centre (Maria Lillà Montagnani, Aura Bertoni and Argyri Panezi) and OPICC - Observatory on Intellectual Property, Competition and Communications, “Luiss Guido Carli” University, Rome (Gustavo Ghidini, Emanuela Arezzo, Federica de Santis and Eleonora Sbarbaro), in cooperation with the Bocconi Library (Anna Vaglio and Tiziana Dassi), have issued a response to the Public Consultation on the Review of the European Copyright Rules, encouraged by the European Commission.
In this response, the authors consider the need to reform copyright for the digital age in order to open up new opportunities for libraries and, in particular, they call for legislative solutions for some critical issues such as disabilities, text and data mining, user-generated content, fair remuneration for authors and performers, and respect for rights.
