According to Susan Buck-Morss, “Images are the archive of collective memory”. The seminar uses this lead to explore the National Museum of War Crimes in Northern Iraq and the Museum of Land Mines in Kabul, Afghanistan.
The journey through the display of artifacts and leftovers of war, and the visual and symbolic reenactment of violence intends to problematise the relation between trauma and construction of identity in countries in conflict as well as question the role that culture plays in post-war reconstruction.
